FLOODSAX sandless sandbags are now playing a vital role in a West Yorkshire council’s anti-flood measures.
Bradford Council says it has learned lessons from the severe flooding which hit the area on Boxing Day 2015 after accepting it was not sufficiently prepared.
It now has thousands of FloodSax located around its area so they can be rapidly deployed if severe flooding strikes again.
The FloodSax are in Keighley, Bradford, Ilkley and Addingham.
Bradford Council assistant director John Major said: “We have learned a lot over the last two years and have put a lot in place.
“Bradford’s flooding was an unusual set of circumstances and it found Bradford Council not as prepared as it should have been.”
Many homes and businesses now have a pack of FloodSax sandless sandbags so they are ready for any flooding emergency. They are space-saving to store but can be transformed into sandbags within minutes simply by adding water.
Around two million have now been sold worldwide.
