The UK is bracing itself for heavy rainfall this weekend with some of it heading our way from Spain!
Sunshine will give way to showers and longer spells of rain with the Met Office warning this could happen anywhere in the UK. Some of the rain may be torrential.
In its forecast for the coming days the Met Office states: “Friday will be a dry and bright start for most before a spell of wet and windy weather sweeps north across much of the UK.
“Rain continues northwards on Saturday with sunshine and showers to the south, staying windy. Sunday and Monday will see sunshine and showers, heavy and possibly thundery. It will be often cool.”
The leftovers of a storm that has struck north west Spain today (Thursday) called Storm Miguel could bring gale force winds to Britain.
The remnants of the Spanish storm may lead to strong winds across the English Channel, hitting Cornwall tomorrow (Friday).
The temperature will range between just 10°C and 18°C.
If the rain leads to flooding be warned that councils have no responsibility to provide sandbags. It is up to householders and businesses to protect themselves and one way to do this is to have FloodSax alternative sandbags which are space-saving to store and easy to deploy. Once they come into contact with water they inflate to weigh 20kg (44lbs) which makes them more effective than traditional sandbags at keeping floodwater out.
More than 2.5 million have now been sold worldwide.
